Description
Based on the legendary DOD 250 overdrive circuit (and evolving from Supercool’s own fan-favourite”800″ Preamp/Distortion), the Cutback is artfully designed to deliver a wide array of sounds ranging from warm pre-amp tones, natural amp-like breakup, and going all the way to searing distortions.
The Cutback is a perfect catch-all drive pedal for any guitarist (no matter the genre of music or style of playing) and boasts two selectable gain modes: 0.01% for boosts and overdrives that respond playfully to player’s dynamics, and 8% for more saturated and intense distortions, and its carefully-tuned active 3-band EQ allows for subtle or dramatic tone shaping to further add to its wide use cases and sonic possibilities.

This is a really great overdrive/distortion pedal. It’s great for both pushing an amp and giving its own distortion character to a clean channel. The three band EQ is the secret weapon. You can create so many different sounds. Just do some knob twidling and you’ll find the sound for you. I crank the gain and use it for a nice warm distortion sound with a slight cut to bass and a boost to mids and highs. I’ve paired it with a Thneed to push it into a nice cutting lead tone.
The look of this pedal is also off-the-chain amazing. It looks so cool on the board and has the look and feel a pedal at this price should have. The User’s Manual is very helpful in understanding how the pedal works and how to get the sound you’re looking for. The little bag it comes in is a really nice touch.
All-in-all this is the type of fantastic product I’d expect from a small builder like Supercool. From packaging, to look, to construction, to sound, this is a thoughtfully designed and crafted pedal. Keep them coming, Jamie!
